Private lessons in argentine tango are available on
request to individuals and couples in the vicinity
of Outremont and Mile end (Montreal).
A private lesson provides the opportunity to adjust
particularly well to the student's personal goals and
rate of learning.
Private lessons can be used as
- an accelerated introduction for motivated beginners
- personalized complement to group classes
- custom-made coaching for advanced students
Lessons usually take place in a dance studio located on
Lajoie street, near Champagneur.
A one-hour lesson costs 50$, either for a couple or
an unaccompanied person. Discounts are available
for series of 5 or 10 lessons.
All lessons are given either in french or in english
by André Carrière, occasionally accompanied by an
assistant. Hours are flexible.
The close-embrace style of tango is privileged in the
teaching. This authentic style of tango, characteristic of
the dancers in Buenos Aires, has become the most
prevalent style in Paris, New-York, Berlin and all the
other tango capitals in the world. Videos-demonstrations
offer some examples of this style.
A little history...
André Carrière was the first to bring Argentine tango
to Sherbrooke with the opening of the school Tango
Connivence in 1997.
This school became the main reference of tango culture
in the Eastern Townships and was for 15 years the center
of the network of tango enthusiasts in the region.
During that period, more than one thousand people were
introduced to tango by participating in one of Tango
Connivence's beginner courses.
In his studio on Alexandre street, between his frequent
visits to Buenos Aires, André has given almost 1900 hours
of classes and workshops of all levels and he has hosted
and DJd over 800 balls and milongas.
He was also active at CFLX radio station by hosting more
than a hundred radio shows on tango music.
In June of 2012, after the celebrations of the 15th
anniversary of tango in Sherbrooke, the school undertook
a major change, with André's decision to stop giving
structured group classes and to spend more time in
Montreal where he is now focusing mostly on teaching
individuals and couples on a private basis.
